How was Intenseye born?

April 9, 2025

This is me 7 years ago, making ice cream to learn about safety. People ask me all the time: “Why did you start Intenseye?”

It started with a search for impact. A drive to change something meaningful in the world. A need to build a solution that would set a new industry standard. Something that would make us look back one day and say, 'Before Intenseye, things were different.'

When we first met with safety teams, we immediately fell in love with the challenge and the mission. But it all started with a single question.

We visited a flagship facility of a global manufacturer—one of the most advanced plants in their industry, equipped with the latest technology. Yet, their recordable incidents were rising or, at best, stagnating year over year.

They ran three shifts, with an average of 300 workers per shift. As safety leaders walked us through the shop floor, they pointed out the problem areas and explained the challenges. Later, I sat down with their VP of Safety and asked:

"If your CEO walked in today and gave you an unlimited budget, what would you do to protect your frontline teams?"

I thought he’d take a moment to reflect. Instead, his answer was immediate:

"I’d hire 900 supervisors—one for every worker, across every shift—to watch over them, guide them, and keep them safe."

That was the moment.

As a software engineer, my mind raced to give him exactly that—but with AI.

• What if we could turn existing cameras into digital supervisors?

• What if we could protect workers in real time—reminding them about PPE, detecting risks, and delivering insights for the next morning’s toolbox talk?

• What if we could do this 24/7, with an ethical AI designed to support frontline teams, not replace them?

That’s how Intenseye was born.

From that moment, I visited over 50 manufacturing facilities across 20+ industries within the first 18 months of Intenseye's inception. I sat down with workers, supervisors, plant managers, and executives—hearing firsthand about amputations, life-altering injuries, and the leadership teams, unions and workers themselves desperate for a solution.

They had installed engineering controls, invested in training, and built strong safety cultures.

But the human element remained unpredictable.

High turnover made proper onboarding difficult. New hires took time to adjust to safety protocols. And despite everyone’s best efforts, incidents still happened.

From day one, we knew EHS expertise was non-negotiable. We built our product alongside safety leaders, ensuring it solved real challenges on the floor. Today, our platform is shaped by safety experts with a combined 65+ years of industry experience, continuously evolving to help protect workers every single day.
